How to set up a free email account using Hotmail:

  1. Use computer that has internet and log onto https://accountservices.passport.net/reg.srf?roid=2&sl=1&lc=1033
  2. Follow the directions filling in the yellow spaces with your personal information.  Make sure that the user name is easy to remember and that the password is at least medium strength.  Write down this information in a safe place so you don’t lose it or forget it.
  3. The email address that you chose will be checked against the system to make sure that no one else is using the same one.  If all information is correct you will get to a page that says you are ready to go.
  4. Click on the blue highlighted words that say to use your new account.
  5. You now see the main page of hotmail and want to click on the hotmail tag on the top left corner of your computer screen.  You should now be signed in to your email account.
  6. Now it is time to investigate your new email site and become familiar with it.
  7. Inbox is for message received, junk is for unwanted messages, drafts is for emails that you have saved, sent is for emails that you sent, and deleted is for the emails that came to your inbox and you deleted.
  8. Now click on the new button and select message.  This is where you will send messages to friend and/or colleagues. 
  9. When a new unread message is in your inbox it will be highlights yellow.  After you read it will turn white, just like the others. 
  10. It is now time to get all of your friends email addresses and add them as a contact and let them know of you email address and communicate freely.  Enjoy!
